Iran Proposes Establishment of International Centre for Digital Education

At the World Conference on Digital Education 2025, Iran unveiled an ambitious proposal to establish an international centre dedicated to advancing digital education. Abolfazl Vahedi, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology, presented this initiative during a session focused on the future of digital learning systems.

Vahedi offered a detailed overview of Iran’s higher education landscape, including data on its universities, student population, and expanding digital infrastructure. He highlighted notable progress in integrating digital and electronic technologies in education, as covered by Mehr News Agency.

The Deputy Minister recognized both accomplishments and current challenges, especially with the rapid growth of artificial intelligence in education. He emphasized that such technological advancements necessitate adaptation and increased global cooperation.

Vahedi proposed two main areas for international collaboration: creating a joint digital learning centre and establishing a unified quality assessment framework for digital education. These efforts aim to enhance resource sharing, research partnerships, and standardized quality measures to ensure equitable and effective digital learning worldwide.

This proposal marks Iran’s intent to lead educational innovation and digital transformation, inviting countries across the globe to participate in building a more interconnected and technology-driven educational future.
